We are delighted that our Town was voted Best Beach in New Zealand 2018!
Come and see why. Our Beaches provide some of The Coromandel Peninsula's best surfing, for all levels and endless safe swimmming.
If you prefer a freshwater dip, head inland and explore our native bush walks in Wentworth Valley which meander alongside The Wentworth River.
Whangamata is also home to mountain bike trails galore. Get in touch with us if you'd like to make the most of your stay here and enjoy some of the Whanga' outdoor experiences. We will put you in contact with the best locals to fit you out with the gear, lessons or a guided experience.
If the outdoorsy lifestyle isn't for you, Whanga's town centre can very easily accomodate the shopaholic with plenty of boutique stores and art galleries.
With over 10 cafes & restaurants you are spoilt for choice in dining experiences just walking distance from your home-base here at La Dolce Vita.
Featuring trails from grade 1-5 there is bountiful amounts of fun to be had from families to advanced riders.

The famed left hand bar break is regarded as one of the best waves in New Zealand when conditions are right.
The beach itself offers fun peaks for all levels. It can be crowded in the summer months, but those willing to explore the surrounding coastline can find some of those quiet idyllic beaches the Coromandel is reknown for.
Within a few minutes drive you could be playing nine holes at the Williamson Course in the centre of the township, or enjoying 18 holes in an outstanding parkland setting on the outskirts of town at the Titoki Course.
Visitors are welcome and whether you're a social golfer, or a bit more serious there is something here for everyone.
There is also fun fishing for the whole family from the Whangamata Wharf.
There are numerous operators offering kayak hire and tours to Donut Island.
The wildlife sanctuary located some 600 metres off the shoreline of Whangamata beach with its internal lagoon and donut like appearance is truly serene and has to be experienced to be believed.
There are some 'Do's' & 'Donts' when visiting here so please ask us about these and be respectful to the environment.
Waterfalls, long sandy beaches, secluded bays, former gold mines, you name it we've got it!
